BUTTERFLY KISSES [ODE TO SOMEONE...]

We wait,
steadily concentrating on
the pros and cons of what could happen.
My lips on the verge
of touching the round,
smooth, silky lining of yours.
My mouth got tense
I pulled back for a second.
That long long agonizing second
felt like years.
years of regretting this,
the chance to enjoy something
so vicious,
so adventurous.
I searched for something,
in the periphery of your eyes,
A sign that you were ready,
In your eyes,
I saw butterflies,
and in my reflection,
the same. Before I could even speak,
A blast of courage hit my lips.
and I loved it.
every tongue twist,
every sound and bite,
it felt like fire in our mouths,
like butterflies escaping
from our throats
just to flutter against
each other's wings.
you let my lips go, and with them,
you released my fears, my worries,
our butterflies into the atmosphere.
